Nepal Policy Research Network (NPRN) organized a Round-table Program on “Policy Research in Nepal: Opportunities for Networking and Collaboration” on December 24, 2010 in the participation of academics, researchers and prominent policy activists in Nepal. NPRN was established in 2010 with an aim to contribute to research-based and pro-people policy-making. It seeks to promote policy-relevant social science research and to nurture an effective dialogue between policy-making and social science research in Nepal. It is founded by three organisations—Social Science Baha, ForestAction, and the College of Development Studies—and is in the process of expanding its membership to like-minded organisations. NPRN envisions its role in four key activities: (a) web-based “Nepal public policy portal” as a knowledge and information hub for a broad spectrum of public policies on Nepal ; (b) facilitation of policy dialogue and documentation of policy relevant discussions; (c) publication of a new journal New Angle: Nepal Journal of Social Science and Public Policy; and (d) facilitate policy-relevant social science research.
